Introducing our new featured fan . . brooklyn babe Deana x

NAME: Deana Bianco

AGE: 28

LOCATION: Williamsburg, Brooklyn

OCCUPATION: Dreamer

BLOG: http://www.doodercity.com

Q – Hi Deana how are you today?
A- Peaceful.

Q – You have a beautiful blog, with a definite vibe for the 60’s and 70’s, if you could be anyone from this period in time who would it be and why ?

A- When you read all the biographies and autobiographies of all people I admire, their lives do not sound so peachy keen. However, I wouldn't mind Debbie Harry for a night singing my heart out at CBGB's. She is the epitome of NYC 70's hotness.

Q- Give us the first line from your favourite book and title / author.

A- "I've been working in the emergency room for about three weeks, I guess. This was in 1973, before the summer ended. With nothing to do on the overnight shift but batch the insurance reports from the daytime shifts, I just started wandering around, over to the coronary care unit, down to the cafetieria, et cetera, looking for Georgie, the orderly, a pretty good friend of mine. He often stole pills from the cabinets"

-Emergency (a short story) by Denis Johnson

Q-What is your favourite cocktail, and how many can your drink!?

A- I am not really a cocktail kind of gal but I love Stella and I can drink a couple.

Q-Where is your favourite boutique, and what is it called?

A- I love going back to Colorado and raiding the thrift stores there.

Q-If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

A- I love living in Williamsburg. I would stay here:)

Q- Who would play you in a movie of your life?

A- Parker Posey. Bill Murray can play my brother.

Q - What is your wardrobe essential?

A- Right now. Vintage black t-shirts or grunge flower dresses.

Q – Your getting ready for a night out with the girls. . . What track is on your stereo to get you in the party mood?

A- Neil Young - Harvest, Michael Jackson - Off The Wall, Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One, Husker Du - New Day Rising

MusicPlaylist
Music Playlist at MixPod.com

Q – Send us a picture from your day –

A- The photo is of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Q – What would you like to ask Stolen Thunder?

A- If you could be someone for a day would you rather be Yoko Ono in the 1970's or Lita Ford in the 1980s?

A –Stolen Thunder – Spending a week in bed with John Lennon is a tempting option, the world would be a better place if he was still in it . . but it’s got to be Lita – the energy, the wild times, the peroxide and ink! What a total fox . .

Introducing our new featured fan the lovely Charlotte x

NAME: Charlotte McRae

AGE: 20

LOCATION: Liverpool

OCCUPATION: Law Student

BLOG: http://www.frockaroundtheclock.blogspot.com/

Q – Hi Charlotte how are you today?

A- Good thank you – my last two exams are this week so I’m excited to get them over and done with so I can enjoy the lovely weather and do lots of shopping!

Q – You have a really eclectic style, who is your style icon?

A- I love Dawn Porter’s style – She’s so cute and colourful, and her makeup always looks lovely and natural. I also adore Lily Allen – I would kill for the jumpsuit she is wearing in her “Not Fair” Video!

Q – If money was no object which designer would you commission to make you a frock and what would it look like?

A- If it was anyone, past and present, I’d want Coco Chanel herself to make me something completely timeless. She was the queen of the LBDs, and it would be wonderful to have something classic that you could treasure forever. It would be even better if a couple of big sets of faux pearls and a quilted bag were thrown in too.

Q – Heels or Flats?

A- Either – usually flats in the day and heels in the evening but they have to be comfortable so I can keep dancing all night!

Q- Give us the first line from your favourite book and title / author.

A- “I still remember the day my father took me to the Cemetery of Forgotten Books for the first time.”

– The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.

Q-What is your favourite cocktail, and how many can your drink!?

A- Apple Mojitos are lovely – very refreshing but I’m not sure how many I can drink!

Q- What is your nickname?

A- Just Charl really, or from the odd few Charlface.

Q-Where is your favourite boutique, and what is it called?

A- I do quite like Pop Boutique – lots of nice colourful dresses and fun items, but I buy clothes from too many different places to have a favourite!

Q-If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

A- Wengen, Switzerland. It’s a tiny little village in the mountains - we going skiing there every year, but I would love to live there because it is so beautiful and peaceful and I love the snow! However there are no clothes shops there, so I don’t know how I’d get my fashion fix!

Q – Give us a fashion tip . . .

A- Always dress to suit your shape, but more importantly just have fun with fashion :)

Q – What's on your stereo when your getting ready for a night out with the girls !!?

A- Probably something ridiculous, like Lou Bega – Mambo No. 5!

Q – Send us a picture from your day –

A- I had some lovely strawberries and raspberries from this afternoon to help me get through my revision.

Q – What would you like to ask Stolen Thunder?

A- Would you consider making some clip-on earrings? I don’t have my ears pierced and love the designs of your current ones but can’t wear them!

A - Stolen Thunder - we'll have a think about that one, it may take us into the realms of Pat Butcher!! x x

Introducing our new featured fan the beautiful Mademoiselle Robot x

Introducing our new featured fan the beautiful Mademoiselle Robot . .she has the looks of a retro movie star, check out her glam blog and revel in the beauty tips

NAME:
Laëtitia Wajnapel
AGE: 30
LOCATION: London
OCCUPATION: Online Fashion Editor
BLOG: www.mademoisellerobot.com
MYSPACE: I don't really use Myspace anymore, but I still have a page www.myspace.com/mademoisellerobot
LOOKBOOK NU PROFILE:
http://lookbook.nu/mademoisellerobot (I don't use this a lot either, sorry!)

Q – Hi Laetitia how are you today?

A-
Hello! I am pretty good thank you. Still on a high after a great day!

Q – What inspired you to become a blogger ?
A- I am not sure actually... I have worked as a journalist for many years in France, and I have been writing "forever". I am also an internet monster so the blog ties everything together nicely. I suppose in a way my direct inspiration has been my little girl. I had her in September 2007 and started the blog in November. At first, it was just a way to keep my brain working in between baby related activities, but it quickly became more organised and evolved many times since.

Q – Do you ever struggle to think of what to write about ?
A-
Not at all! I have a whole universe in my head and a bunch of theories about everything (often pretty useless stuff, it has to be said) just waiting to come out. It makes life easier when you blog.

Q – Where did the name Mademoiselle Robot come from?
A- I used to DJ when I lived in Paris, and had to choose a dj name. I have always been into robots, so I went for Mademoiselle Robot. So when I decided to start a blog, it came naturally that I should use this. It has been my screen name on many sites for years, so it made sense.

Q - Give us the first line from your favourite book and title / author.
A- Let me just go grab it, I warn you, it is in French though so open Google Translations."Cher Nelson Algren,

Je vais essayer d'écrire en anglais. Donc excusez ma grammaire, et si je n'emploie pas les mots dans leur vrai sens, comprenez quand même. En plus j'ai une mauvaise écriture, et j'écris dans un train en marche."

From Lettres à Nelson Algren - Un amour transatlantique 1947-1964 by Simone de Beauvoir

I have read this book so many times, I urge everyone to read it. It is the most beautiful collection of love letters, and the most inspiring book.

"Dear Nelson Algren,

I'll try to write in English. So excuse my grammar, and if I do not use words in their true sense, understand anyway. In addition I have a bad writing and I write on a train in motion"
Letters to Nelson Algren - A Transatlantic Love 1947-1964 by Simone de Beauvoir

Q – If money was no object which designer would you commission to make you a frock and what would it look like?
A- It would probably be a tie between Luella and Marc Jacobs. Although at the moment, I think I am more in a Luella mood, so I will go for her. I would ask for a simple dress with a lot of interesting details. Girly but not too cute. Short. Fitted top and poofy skirt. In a really soft floaty fabric. Maybe floral? Hmmmm.

Q-What is your favourite cocktail, and how many can your drink!?
A- I like a good Apple Martini, but would only drink one. I am not a very big drinker. If I go out and decide to drink, I only ever drink vodka lime and soda. Of this I can drink maybe 7 or 8. But I always stop before I am too drunk, I don't like being drunk, I like being in control of what I do.

Q- What is your nickname?
A- I never used to have a nickname, and then when I moved to London, my friends started calling me "Tish" as "Laëtitia" doesn't seem to roll on the English tongue. Or so I noticed.

Q- Where is your favourite boutique, and what is it called?

A- I have several. The first one isn't really a boutique, it is a store called Liberty's in London. It is a beautiful Tudor style building in between Carnaby street and Regent Street that has all the luxury items you could wish for, and more... Their clothes selection is always the best. I can't really afford anything in there most of the time, but it is a good place to go to soak up the atmosphere and get some inspiration.

I also like Miss Lala's boudoir in Covent Garden for cute lingerie and Sara Berman dresses.

Q- If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

A- I have been thinking about this a lot lately because it is a very real question for me. I was born and grew up in Paris and fell in love with London as a kid. I kept going to London, every year or so when I was a teenager, and carried on doing so for a while. Then one day I decided to move there, just to try. I think dreams are here to come true. So I wanted to make my dream of London come true. And it did! I am lucky enough to live in Bloomsbury in a lovely flat with my little family....

But now I am obsessing over Los Angeles, as after London, it is the only city I truly fell in love with. That was in 2004. I need to go back to see if I still feel the same. I think I would like to live there because it is so different from anything I know. It is so big, but at the same time it is by the sea. It is so trashy and at the same time really inspiring. And it would fulfill my life long craving for americana...

Q- Who is your style icon and why?

A- Even though I had for a while a "Style Icon" feature on my blog, I don't really have a style icon. THE CAT IS OUT OF THE BAG PEOPLE! There are a few people I admire for their style, but mostly people I know: I love the way my grandmother Florence used to dress as she managed to always look glamourous while staying herself. I like the way my friend Federica dresses because her clothes really make her personality shine through. Mainly, I respect people who dress for themselves and to be themselves. I think that's the most important thing.

Q – Give us a fashion tip . . .

A- I am just going to repeat myself, but my only fashion tip is to find your own unique style to match your own unique personality.

Q – If you've had a bad day which song will make you smile again?

A- I walk a little faster by Blossom Dearie, or O Pato by Joao Gilberto.

Q – Send us a picture from your day –

A- Today I saw my best friend and sat in her garden for a bit, but I also reconnected with an old friend (while also sitting in his garden). Cupcakes were eaten, tea was drunk, bubbles were blown and a Snoopy was almost lost. All that with my daughter / sidekick!

Stolen Thunder - too cute!! Looks like the perfect day!

Q – What would you like to ask Stolen Thunder?

A- I would like to know your top 5 hottest boys. Thanks.

A - Stolen Thunder - Off course our ultra sexy boyfs the lovely Wonder and Eddie . .then mmmmmm!

Joaquin Phoenix, Caleb Followhill,Patrick Swayze (circa Dirty Dancing, looking a bit rough now!) Devendra Banhart (when not dresses as a belly dancer) and the cute George Lamb from Radio 6 and BBLB.

New featured fan the Gorgeous Kay . . . x

Introducing our new featured fan the gorgeous Kay and her picturesque blog "The Stitched" . .

NAME: Kay Gilbert
AGE:
17 LOCATION: Cambridge, UK
OCCUPATION:
Sixth form student
MYSPACE:
Abandoned it years ago
BLOG:
http://www.thestitched.blogspot.com
LOOKBOOK NU PROFILE:
http://lookbook.nu/kayg

Q –
Hi Kay how are you today?
A-
I'm good thank you, tired though - looking forward to the weekend.

Q – You have a vibrant blog, with fresh, fun feel, who takes your photos ?
A -
Thank you (: My boyfriend takes them. He had taken maybe only one photograph in his life before he started helping me with the blog - I really really appreciate him doing it for me because it's hardly his favourite thing to do.

Q- Give us the first line from your favourite book and title / author.
A-
"The studio was filled with the rich odour of roses, and when the light summer wind stirred amidst the trees of the garden, there came through the open door the heavy scent of the lilac, or the more delicate perfume of the pink flowering thorn" - The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.

Q-
What is your favourite cocktail, and how many can your drink!?

A-
There was a delicious red one I had at a party once, but I can't remember what it was called. One of my boyfriend's friends created a Malibu-heavy cocktail called a 'Blayney Breeze' that was amazing. To be honest I am such a lightweight I could probably manage about two and then I'd be gone. And Blue Lagoons are actually rank.

Q- What is your nickname?
A- Kay is actually a nickname. My real name is Kathryn but I wanted to retain a bit of anonymity I guess. Most people call me Gilly or Kay. There are exceptions e.g. Holacha (I can't explain that one either) and Kathy (which only three people are allowed to use - I slightly hate it).

Q
-Where is your favourite boutique, and what is it called?

A-
To be honest I don't have a favourite boutique so I'm going to say my favourite shop instead - Beyond Retro in London.

Q-
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

A-
Either on the Northumberland or Devon coast. Life there is just so much calmer, away from all the administrative and financial obsession that comes hand in hand with city life. More fresh air as well (obviously).

Q-
Who is your style icon and why?

A-
I'm going to be boring and say Kate Moss, but for a less traditional reason. I don't always like what she wears or her outfits but I like the way she chooses clothes simply because she likes the story behind them or the item itself in the own right. She is a woman refreshingly lacking in the wardrobe staples for wardrobe staples' sake department. Generally I try to avoid actually dressing like anyone else though.

Q –
Give us a fashion tip . . .

A -
I'm totally the wrong person to ask for this... err. I always replace belts/waist ties which comes with dresses etc for my own. I find it looks less mass produced and cheap, but that's just my opinion.

Q –
What song makes you get up and DANCE!!?

A-
Anything by Britney Spears or Michael Jackson. A certain friend and I get embarrassing after a little too much wine/general excitement. We are that lame.

Q –
Send us a picture from your day –

A- The joys of creating synopses for Wilfred Owen revision. I really really dislike war poetry.

Q –
What would you like to ask Stolen Thunder?

Where did the name Stolen Thunder come from?
A -Stolen Thunder "The need to break free and steal back our thunder" (que 80's rock music! . . .)
